What follows the Indian Chief?

Chief

Only one more day before the Indian Chief is unveiled and already I’m wondering what’s next!
Although we don’t know what the Chief looks like yet, we have seen the long and low silhouette (pictured above) which shows a windscreen and no top box.
When the Indian Chief is unveiled tomorrow (Sunday, August 4), I will post images straight on to this site as well as my Facebook page.
I’m guessing that with its heritage of classic styling the Indian is probably going to be a classic softbagger with a windscreen, so it will compete with the Fat Boy, Heritage Softail and Road King. These are among the top-selling Harleys in Australia.
So, what’s next?
Surely there will be lots of accessories to dress it up, but the 111 engine must be the heart of more models.
There are bound to be all sorts of full-dresser tourers with frame- and fork-mounted fairings as well as stripped-down cruisers without their trademark deep valances.
They might not all be Chiefs. I’d suggest the Scout name will also make a comeback.
Later today the first 111 buyers who have put down a deposit for the first Chief models to arrive in Australia later this year will attend a special cocktail launch party in Sydney.
There they will draw lots for the numbered badges that will come with their bikes.
Come back later today and see who scored the coveted #1 and #111.
Then come back tomorrow at noon when the Chief is unveiled simultaneously with the unveiling at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
