Ride cross-continent for charity

This is a new section of Motorbike Writer where you get to plug your motorcycle event. It doesn’t matter if it’s for profit, charity or just a laugh. Send the details to hinchm@hotmail.com.
rideStuart Ball contacted me after reading an article about my ride to Texas, the first Motorcycle Friendly Town in mainland Australia.
“Looks like a good meet up. Great to know that the Town is bike friendly. We will be staying there on Sunday August 18 for the first night of The Great Australian Ride,” he writes.
“We will be have an evening meal at the Stockman Hotel and camping at the camp ground in town. Our ride goes from East to West Australia, 7500km over 20 days.”
It’s the third year for the ride which last year raised $26,275 for Sids and Kids.
The team of 12 riders will start at Cape Byron, Australia’s most easterly point, passing through the Simpson and Gibson deserts to Steep Point, Australia’s most westerly point.
The ride is capped at 12 and they are looking for five more riders. You can also sponsor a rider, or for a $35 donation to Sids and Kids, you can ride with the group from Byron to Tenterfield to send them on their way. Dinner is at the Royal Hotel if you’d like to meet the guys.
