Pirelli has updated its Scorpion Trail tyres for big-bore adventure bikes with even longer life, improved wet performance, better traction and more control.
The Pirellia Scorpion Trail II tyre is a combination of their popular and long-wearing Angel GT sports tyre and their range of enduro tyres.
They are designed for big-bore adventure bikes such as the Ducati Multistrada, Aprilia Caponord, BMW R 1200 GS, Triumph Tiger, KTM 1190 Adventure, Honda Crosstourer, Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré, Kawasaki Versys and Suzuki V-Strom. They may even develop a 21-inch front to suit the coming Honda Africa Twin.
Most of these bikes do about 90% of their riding on the road, but need dirt capabilities for those occasions owners tackle light dirt conditions.
We reviewed the previous tyre and couldn’t wear them out over 6000km of hard work, two-up riding and some light dirt duties. Read our full review here.
Compared with its predecessor, the new tyre has a wider central section which retains a compound developed for high mileage without compromising cornering performance.
Pirelli claims it is especially developed for excellent wet grip.
The side compound was designed to optimise the balance between performance on dry and wet roads.
They also feature a shorter, wider, contact patch area to reduce and level the wear of the tread for greater mileage.
Pirelli says the new profiles improve handling, which remains unchanged throughout the life of the tyre.
They also claim the tyre structure has been developed to handle big loads on heavy motorcycles.
“This provides improved wet performance over its predecessor and incredible versatility, making it comfortable even for long trips, on winding roads and in adverse weather conditions,” they say.
Like the Angle GT, the new Scorpion Trail II has an area on the side where you can stick a custom label. there is with a wide range of labels in different fonts, colours, banners, logos and tracks.
