Motorcycle tour planning app offer

Tourstart planning app

Danish company Tourstart is offering Motorbike Writer readers a 20% discount on their new motorcycle ride planning and navigation app with free worldwide maps.

While there have been many such apps around, the company claims theirs is “unique” because of “the high level of integration between web and app.

Once a tour is composed, it is instantly available on both web and app, and it also works offline. You also get a free download of maps from all around the world.

Founder and owner of Tourstart, Jan A. Pedersen, has made the app available for our readers at a 20% discount for a one-year subscription, normally costing about $US19 (about $A23) a year.

You can get a 14-day free trial and, if you enjoy planning your adventures, type in the voucher code “MBW17” to claim your Motorbike Writer discount. It’s only a few bucks discount, but it’s better than nothing!

Jan claims Tourstart makes it easy for individual motorcyclists planning a ride and sharing their tours or for motorcycle groups and clubs to create activities.

The members download the app and share tours planned in the club, or members plan individual tours and share with other members.

“You can plan your own tours, find inspiration from others, no limitations, download to a GPS – TomTom and Garmin – or use our free downloadable app which has built in voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation,” he says.

The navigation on the app is started easily by pressing the navigation symbol. Further the Tourstart transfer software makes transfer of GPS data to the Garmin and TomTom as easy as never before. No need to handle GPX files which are complicated to upload.”

The app works all over the world and is available in English Danish and German.

You can download the app from the Apple store or for Android devices.

  1. I’ve been using Tourstart for more than two years now. It’s a great tool and has certainly increased the quality of my motorcycle experiences. I now more often comes in places I would not normally come, because i use the drag/route funktion, It’s very easy to use, planning is easy and it’s also very easy to transfer your trips to the GPS with Tourstarttransfer.Best of all is that it saves your own tours for later use, you can share them with your friends and all other users as well as you can download the many thousands of tours that all the other users have made…saving time and giving you a new adventure.

  2. A couple of years ago, I bought a Honda Goldwing and used their trip planner for the built in navigation. However, there is a bug in the GPX download and would not port to other types of GPS units. I searched Harley, Google Maps, Google Earth, Garmon Basecamp, and others before settling on Tourstart. The site is extremely feature rich. As a road captain of many weekend group rides, I cannot over estimate how useful it is to share the route with other group members especially with my tailgunner/sweeper. The ability to share easily with Garmin, Harley, Honda Goldwing, & TomTom GPS units seamlessly is a great experience.

  3. I´ve been using Tourstart for more than seven years and have now created over 200 tours. Beside creating tours domestic, I also have made a great deal of tours cross Europe witch have brougt me to the peculiar Places on my tours.. Yes, it´s a great Tool for motorbikers – even if your taking your car on Holidays – and ist is taking your tour experiences to a higher level. Remeber though to tjek your tours when you have downloaded them to the GPS by zooming close up on the tour.. Wish you a good luck with Tourstart and a lot of new ways you didn´t now is there..

  4. Tourstart is great. Just try it out. Easy route-planning and transfer to your Navigator. Or even better, just navigate with the Tourstart app on the Bike with your mobile phone.
