The Roadmaster will arrive in Australia in late October or early November at $38,995 which is only $3000 more than the Chieftain, but it comes with a host of extras, including a carpeted top box.
It uses the same 1811cc ‘Thunder Stroke’ V-twin engine as in the existing Chieftain, Chief Vintage and Chief Classic with the same torque (102.4lbft) and is expected to have the same power (about 91bhp). However, like Harley, Indian doesn’t mention power ratings.

The bike will be launched along with the new 2015 Indian models at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota next Saturday. So far, all we know about the existing Indian models si that they will come with a $1000 two-tone paint option. MotorbikeWriter will attend the launch, so stay tuned for more details on the 2015 Indian and Victory fleet.
Meanwhile, the Roadmaster will be just that – a master of the road with almost 143 litres of weatherproof and remote-lockable storage. It comes with all the goodies of the Chieftain including powered windscreen, ABS, tyre pressure monitors, cruise control and acres of chrome.
But it adds a lower fairing with vents for better weather protection. Plus it gets an advanced infotainment system with GPS, phone and Pandora. That’s pretty good value for just an extra $3000.
Like the Vintage, it comes with gorgeous brown leather seats, but these are heated with individual controls and hi/low settings.
