Ducati Australia has issued its 2018 price list with more “models” than ever before mainly due to separate pricing depending on what colours you choose.
All motorcycle manufacturers charge more for multi-colours, race replica paintwork, metal flake, multi-coat, pearl finish or other special colour schemes and paintwork.
However, Ducati simply charges more for some plain colours.
For example, you can pay $500 more for the Ducati 959 Panigale in basic white (top photo), $300 more for a white Supersport S and $200 more for yellow or silver on the Icon Scrambler. See the full 2018 price list below.
If you are buying Mercedes-Benz or BMW cars, you will be charged more for any colour other than black or white. But, as far as we know, Ducati is the only motorcycle manufacturer to do this.
It’s still just a single-colour paint with no special treatment, so why the extra cost?
Simply because they can.
Ducati believes their customers are so passionate about their bikes, they will pay the extra cost.
That’s capitalism at work.
