Chris Vermeulen rides for charity

Chris VermeulenWet weather kept a lid on numbers for the Bang on a Beanie ride with 2003 World Supersport champion Chris Vermeulen at the weekend.
The ride left MotoLife at Caloundra for the Sunshine Coast hinterland under threatening skies. But while some of the roads were wet from morning showers, the riders had mostly clear skies for the ride which took them through a rollercoaster ride among the patchwork hills up to Pomona and Cooroy before heading through the Mary Valley, over the Blackall Range and back to the store for a barbecue lunch.
It was all in the name of a good cause with riders paying $20 to raise funds for the Bang on a Beanie campaign supporting more than 1.6 million Australians affected by acquired brain injury.
Riders received a pale blue beanie – coincidentally in similar colours to the former MotoGP rider’s Rizla Suzuki team – in support of Brain Injury Awareness Week on August 12-18.
Chris rode the new water-cooled BMW R 1200 GS which impressed with its power, but he remains a fan of the F 800 GS which he is “easy and comfortable and you can go anywhere”.
MotoLife continues to organise social rides for customers at its Caloundra and new Townsville stores.
