Polaris shakes up all-terrain vehicle market

The company that makes Indian and Victory motorcycles is also shaking up the UTV world.
UTV stands for Utility Task Vehicle and is also called a Side by Side vehicle for two to six people or an ROV (Recreational Off-highway Vehicle).
Whatever you call it, Polaris has released a Sportsman Ace which is a hybrid with an all-terrain vehicle with its sit-in chassis.
Polaris Australia & New Zealand marketing manager Alan Collins says it represents “an entirely new class of four-wheeled off-road vehicles.
“This new product combines the agility of a quad bike with the added security features of a side x side to offer a completely unique riding experience for agricultural, commercial and recreational users,” he says.
It will be available here in April at $11,495 plus dealer charges.
With its low, central bucket seat and roll cage, Polaris Australia & New Zealand MD Peter Alexander says the Sportman Ace is a safer vehicle.
“And like anything for the Australian market, this vehicle needs to be seriously heavy duty with capacities and capabilities which lead the market…and on that front, Sportsman ACE certainly delivers.”
The Sportsman ACE is powered by a new 32 horsepower ProStar fuel-injected engine with an internal counter-balance shaft.
The vehicle has a 19.87 litre long-range fuel tank, an integrated 10.6 litre front storage compartment, and a high-capacity Lock & Ride cargo box with rack extenders and rear tie-down rails. The Sportsman ACE is pre-wired for a winch with up to 1587kg of capacity and has a 680kg towing capacity.
Polaris will also offer more than 25 accessories for Sportsman ACE including doors, winches, cabs and storage to suit their needs.
