Black Dog 1 Dayer ride raises funds for Lifeline

Anny and Mandy

You don’t have to ride to the Red Centre to support mental health – a one-day Black Dog Ride has been organised for Sunday, March 23.

The annual Black Dog Ride consists of an epic ride by hundreds of riders from each capital city to Alice Springs to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention and to raise much-needed funds. Last year riders raised more than $352,000 for Lifeline and Mental Health First Aid.

The Black Dog Ride one-dayer is a national motorcycle event with 30 rides organised in every state and territory across Australia. Click here for more details on the ride in your state.

The Black Dog Ride began in 2009 as a solo motorbike ride around Australia by Steve Andrews to raise awareness of depression. In the past five years, the annual Black Dog Ride and one-dayer events have raised more than $1.1 million. Funds raised are directed to Lifeline’s Online Crisis Support chat service and funding Mental Health First Aid Instructors across Australia.
